Taiga seeks end to Aladja, Ogbe-Ijoh hostilities

Moses Taiga

The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) worldwide, Moses Taiga, has called for peaceful co-existence between Aladja, an Urhobo community in Udu council and Ogbe-Ijoh, an Ijaw community in Warri South-West council of Delta State.

He made this call following rumours of an imminent resumption of hostilities between the communities. His words: “These mindless killings must stop. The lives of our people are too precious to be wasted like cockroaches. Enough of the blood-letting.

“The Urhobo and the Ijaw have lived peacefully together for centuries. All hands must, therefore, be on deck to sustain the peaceful coexistence.”Taiga also called on the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, to release the report of the panel of enquiry into the communal crisis.

According to him, the release and implementation of the report by government would help to end the prolonged crisis between the two communities.
