Darah speaks on restructuring, the Urhobo nation

Prominent essayist and university teacher, Prof. Gordini G. Darah is the keynote speaker at the 2017 annual lecture series of the Urhobo Foundation holding on Thursday, July 27 at the Radisson Blu Anchorage, Victoria Island, Lagos. This year’s conference theme is ‘The Urhobo Nation and Restructuring of Nigeria.’

A statement signed by Olorogun Ese Okobiah and Mr. Benson Uwheru, chairman and secretary of the Conference Planning Committee respectively, said the lecture is aimed at providing an intellectual platform for meaningful and practical engagements with respect to the current national debate on restructuring and the state of the Urhobo Nation.

The lead speaker, Prof. Darah, is not only a distinguished academic, he is a former chairman of the Editorial Board of The Guardian newspaper and was a delegate to the 2005 and 2014 National Political Conferences in Abuja. He is expected to bring his rich experiences as an academic and social crusader to bear in addressing the position of the Urhobo, one of Nigeria’s constituent ethnic groups, on the renewed agitation for the restructuring of the country,” the statement said.

Urhobo Foundation is an intellectual forum generating economic and socio-cultural ideas for developing the human and environmental assets in Urhoboland. The foundation has continued to promote programmes and projects towards the sustainable development of the Urhobo Nation.
