Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has presented a budget of N234 billion for the 2018 fiscal year.
Presenting the proposed budget to the state house of Assembly, he said N152 billion was earmarked for capital expenditure while N82 billion was allocated for recurrent expenditure.
Tagged: Budget of Reality, Ganduje posited that the proposed 2018 appropriation bill would be financed through a total recurrent revenue proposed for the year 2018 estimated at N148 billion, which comprises N54 billion internally generated revenue (IGR) and N94 billion from the federation account.
The total recurrent of 2018 is higher than that of 2017 by N732 million, while the projected IGR for 2018 is also higher compared to that of 2017 by N4.5 million representing a 9.2 per cent increase.
Ganduje explained that the proposed capital expenditure which stood at N152, 902, 438.95, which is higher than that of 2017 by N13,427,218,519 will be financed by N65,730,907,479 expected recurrent revenue surplus and total capital receipt of N86,171,503,616 while capital receipt is made up of N28,947,500,000 as expected international and external loans.
He said that N27,535,583,958 is an estimated grants while N27,334,328,440 is expected as miscellaneous and treasury balance of N353,119.
On the sectorial allocations, the Ministry of Works and Housing took the lion share of over N40 billion, Water Resources N35 billion, Education N21 billion, while Agriculture and Natural Resource got N10.4 billion.
Also, the Ministry of Health got N9.7 billion, Bureau of Lands and Management N8.4billion, State Civil service and general administration N4 billion and Environment N3 billion.
