FRSC to deploy 1,400 personnel for special patrol in Ogun, says Sector Commander

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it will deploy 1,400 of its personnel for special patrol between Dec. 20 and Jan. 15, 2018, to control traffic in Ogun.

Mr Clement Oladele, the Ogun State Sector Commander of FRSC, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday that the exercise was meant to secure lives and property during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The sector commander expressed the hope that the exercise would ensure free flow of traffic, eliminate traffic gridlocks, and respond promptly to traffic emergencies.

According to him, the 1,400 personnel would be on 24-hour patrol across the state to check the excesses of motorists and reduce road accidents.

The sector commander said that the officials would be on ground to ensure free flow of traffic in strategic locations.

He said these locations include:the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Sagamu – Ijebu Ode Expressway, Abeokuta – Sango Ota – Lagos Expressway and Abeokuta – Sagamu Corridor, among other corridors in Ogun.

“We implore motorists to cooperate with the FRSC officials on the highways and adhere strictly to all traffic rules and regulations to ensure safety during the period,’’ Oladele said.

He, however, warned motorists to desist from driving against traffic as well as avoid making phone calls while driving.

Oladele also enjoined drivers to demonstrate love to fellow motorists and use the highway without causing pains or injuries to others.

He also advised them to display a high level of obedience and adhere to simple traffic rules.

‘‘It is only when passengers arrive their various destinations safely that the purpose of the special patrol will not be defeated,’’ he said.
