Former altar boys regroup to serve mass

History will be re-enacted today, as 24 altar boys of St. Mary’s Parish, Onitsha, from the 80’s and 90’s, now altar men, will function as mass servants for today’s Sunday, 10 a.m. service.

According to the coordinator of Altar Knight Association (AKA), Chris Ejiofor Ibeziakor, “It all started as a WhatsApp group. Some of those in the group are Austin Nonso Areh, Obiora Odogwu, Abada Iwuchukwu, Richie Olieh, Nnamdi Ntephe, Mbanefo Iwuchukwu, Charles Kwentoh, Barrister Nonso Isiugo, Arinze Odiari, Ifeatu Ibeziako, and Clifford Ezeh.

He disclosed that about 69 boys who served mass under the parish priesthood of Msgr. Gabriel Onuorah are to be part of the celebration.“We want to show people that one is never too old to serve in the Lord’s vineyard. We have members coming in from across the country and the world. It is to thank and serve the Lord who made us all. We want people to come and witness mass as you’ve never seen it before,” he said.
