The Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu, made the assertion on Monday in Benin while unveiling the logo of Edo Festival of Arts and Culture.
Shaibu, represented by the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Diaspora, Mr Osaze Osemwengie-Ero, said that there was need for the state government to shift attention from oil and over-dependence on federal allocation.
He said that the state would harness its abundant resources in terms of arts, culture and tourist centres.
The deputy governor said that the 2017 edition of the festival tagged: “Art, Culture, Our Wealth’’ would showcase the state rich cultural heritage.
Shaibu said that the artworks of Benin Kingdom, Ososo Tourist Centre in Akoko Edo Local Government, among others, would boost tourism and revenue profile of the state.
