Community celebrates Ososo Carnival


It was a colourful outing as the 7th edition of the Ososo Carnival opened on Wednesday with the theme, ‘Ososo Carnival: A Catalyst For Sustainable Tourism Development’.

Some of the activities included bonfire night, beauty pageant and awards, with Miss Olivia Omon Oleabhiele emerging as winner of the pageant. There were also carnival procession, musical concert and a closing ceremony, which ended yesterday.

Competitive bands included Orukhu, Ikuegbegbe, Casablanca, Kukuruku and Muegbesuegbe. The non-competitive ones were Governor’s and Akoko-Edo. The event is reminiscent of the culture, tourism potential, hospitality and peace-loving nature of the Ososo people.The President, Ososo Carnival Initiative, Moses Teo Ajayi, said the event has been reviewed and redefined and aims at becoming world-class.
