An appeal has gone to the Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano to certify the newly installed and crowned Obi Austin Chukwuezugo Ndigwe as the Eze Uzu 111 of Awka.

In a solidarity visit to the governor yesterday afternoon, the Awka community, led by its spiritual head and Otochalu-Awka, Ichie Ozo Nwibe Nwosu, in company of other elders and kingmakers, including Ichie Michael Nwumeh and Chief Okolo Maduka, delivered a letter detailing their demands and expectations from the state government, top of which was the certificate of recognition for Ndigwe.

The statement, titled, ‘Appeal for Government Recognition of Obi Eze Uzu 111 of Awka Kingdom,’ dated December 7, this year, noted that the emergence and crowning of Ndigwe on November 15, this year was sequel to a long-drawn constitutional process of selection, screening and confirmation of a new traditional ruler in the last one year.

Nwosu, therefore, appealled to the governor to certify Ndigwe, having duly passed all the rigorous process of security screening that culminated in his being provided the community’s staff of office.

In their presentation, Ozo Anieze Chinwuba, a member of the Council of Kingmakers, told the state Director of Protocol, Mr. Evans Obiano, who represented the governor, that their visit was a culmination of the resolution of the general assembly meeting held earlier in the day at the Ndichie Hall.
