The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Simbi Kesiye Wabote, has charged International Oil Companies (IOCs) to patronise the modern fabrication complex recently unveiled by MG Vowgas in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He said the firm deserves to be patronised by the IOCs since it has everything required for fabrication and ship engineering services.Wabote, who made the call during the facility tour of the company, noted that he was impressed at the quality and number of machines, workshops and equipment at the complex.
Commending the industrial outlay of the fabrication yard, Wabote pointed out that the magnificent office complex, trained workforce and the high caliber equipment and facilities were enough to take any FPSO.
He promised to ensure that the work scope the yard can handle in the oil and gas industry was given to the company and to ensure that it participates in competitive and transparent bidding process.
He pointed out that the Vowgas fabrication yard must have been built out of the passion to grow the industry, given that the company has not had any major contract in the past.
Responding, its Group Managing Director, Godwin Izomor, who conducted the NCDMB team round the yard, noted that with the world-class facilities and personnel, there was no excuse for the IOCs to take their fabrication jobs to foreign countries thus promoting capital flight.
He noted that he is determined to match global standard in the oil and gas industry. He appealed to the Federal Government to improve electricity supply and security in the country, as it costs huge amount of money to provide electricity and security, which increases the cost of doing business.
