The immediate past District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Rotn. Patrick Ikheloa, has urged clubs in the district, comprising of Lagos and Ogun states to emulate the Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate that not only emerged the best club in the district, but also excelled in membership development for 2016/2017 Rotary year.
President of the club, Rotn. Atul Kshetry, said the club was able to achieve the feat by selling the idea of membership to donors any time they had a project.“Whenever we asked people to donate blood, we also implore them to become members of Rotary Club. In addition, we encourage our members to invite their spouses to become Rotarians because we observe that our club was male dominated,” he said.
Kshetry assured members that the club would continue to maintain the status quo of leadership in the district by continuing with its projects such as eye surgery camp, giving out of artificial limbs and working with primary health centres with a view to empowering them in the dispense of their duties and supply them with whatever they are lacking to improve on their services to members of the public.
He added that the club would also equip schools with poor facilities with potable water, desks and benches. He further disclosed that Rotary International Indo-Eye Surgery Club along Murtala Mohammed Airport Road would soon be commissioned, which would enable many Nigerians to benefit from free removal of cataract and glaucoma.
