Reverend Father Anslem Adodo
A new political thought on community enterprise, Communitalism was yesterday added to the nation’s political lexicon to the admiration of politicians and religious leaders in Lagos.
The thought, propounded by Reverend Father Anslem Adodo, is contained in his new book: “Integral Community Enterprise in Africa ‘Communitalism’ as an alternative to capitalism”, which was presented to the public at the Eucharistic Heart Sisters, in Ikeja, Lagos.
The event, which was attended by a legislator, Emmanuel Makoji Egwu, Archbishop, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Reverend Alfred Adewale Martins, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Anthony Elujoba, and the wife of Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Abimbola Fashola, dignitaries commended the foremost herbal specialist and Catholic clergy Reverend Father, Anslem Adodo of African Research Institute, Ewu, Edo State, for his many breakthroughs and the addition of a new lexicon to the political taxonomy.
While commending Adodo, Chairman of the event, Egwu, said the book and the political thought it espouses were breakthroughs in sub-Sahara Africa in community enterprise.
“This move is one that will not only make waves in sub-Saharan Africa, but the world at large. This is a 21st century approach that brings on board community enterprise and practical view on the herbal health discovery in Ewu, Edo State,” he said.
He encouraged the use of the book and advised that it be made available in libraries at colleges and universities.Also, Martins said Adodo deserves celebration not just for his outstanding work in herbal remedy research, but his scholarly contributions to knowledge.
“We do not only celebrate Adodo as an individual but also an institution of the monasteries all over the world and particularly in Nigeria. “We congratulate Adodo for keeping the tradition of bringing something new as an addition to the culture of the human race. We are hearing for the first time the term “communitalism,” which is obviously a brand new concept that is being introduced and is also the tradition of monks in bringing in something new for the human culture to embrace, savor and use as something new.”
Prof. Elujoba, who reviewed the book, said that the word “Communitalism” is a new word created by the author, saying it is “a word that is yet to get into the English dictionary. ICPC mulls new curriculum to check examination malpractices
