Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, has summoned a meeting with the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, over Super Eagles defeat to South Africa.
The Nigerian soccer team was beaten 2-0 in Uyo on Saturday in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Nneka Anibeze, media adviser to Dalung in a statement on Sunday, said the meeting would hold on Tuesday in the minister’s conference room.
Dalung was quoted as calling for support for the Super Eagles in their bid to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and 2018 World Cup.
“We need to sit with the technical committee to find out the immediate and remote causes of this setback,” the statement said.
“We have very young talented players in the Eagles and we trust that with more hard work and determination, this result can be reversed when we go to South Africa.”
Meanwhile, Stuart Baxter, coach of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, has mocked the Super Eagles for their loss.
Nigeria is currently third in the qualifying group behind leaders, Libya, and South Africa and will play Seychelles, who lost 1-5 to Libya in their next encounter.
