• Edo governor, deputy, break Ramadan fast with Otaru, Muslim leaders
The Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna State has doled out over 500 food packages to Muslims, since the beginning of the Ramadan.
Pastor Yohanna Buru, the church’s General Overseer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna yesterday that the food packages and drinks were shared out to the destitute and poor faithful.
He said the church was at the forefront of promoting religious tolerance in Kaduna, adding that the gesture was to deepen peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians.
Buru said: “We must support our brothers and sisters with what to eat in these 30 days, in view of the high cost of food items in local markets.”
One of the beneficiaries, Malam Wambai Isa, who is the leader of visually-impaired persons in the state, commended Buru for his relentless efforts to bring succour to the less privileged persons.
Meanwhile, the Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the weekend joined the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Aliru Momoh, and other Muslim traditional and religious leaders to break the day’s Ramadan fast at the Otaru’s Palace in Auchi, Estako West Local Council of the state.
He said the visit was to show solidarity with Muslim fellows as well as encourage them to continue to pray for the state, country and speedy recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Ramadan is one of the key pillars in Islam. We decided that in the spirit of brotherliness, we should come and felicitate with you and be grateful to Allah for making the country come out stronger despite the economic challenges,” he said
Responding, the Otaru appreciated the governor for joining Muslims in the state to commemorate the fasting period, adding that the visit was divinely inspired and would go a long way to strengthen religious harmony in the state.
