AFCON 2019 Qualifier: Iheanacho, Onazi, others train in Uyo ahead of South Africa clash (PHOTOS)


The Super Eagles will face South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations Qualifier on Saturday, June 10 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.


Kelechi Iheanacho, Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu were among the 21 players that arrived camp on Monday to train ahead of the upcoming match.

Elderson Echiejile, Kenneth Omeruo and Ahmed Musa are expected to join in today, June 6.

Other players already in camp are Henry Onyekuru, Victor Osimhen, Daniel Akpeyi, Olarewaju Kayode, Dele Alampasu, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Head coach Gernot Rohr, who was appointed in August 2016, is expected to guide the Nigerian national team to the 2019 AFCON, following their failure to qualify for the recent tournament that took place in Gabon.

Cameroon defeated Egypt in the finals to lift their fifth AFCON title in February.

The Super Eagles will still compete against Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria in the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
