A 19-year-old man, Ogunlusi Abass, was on Friday sentenced to six months imprisonment in Ilesa prison by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for burglary and theft.
The trial judge, Mr Olusola Aluko, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Fagboyibo Abiodun, had told the court that the convict committed the offence on Jan. 28 at about 2:00 a.m. at Onibueja area of Osogbo.
Abiodun said that the convict unlawfully broke into the apartment of one Rasheed Sakiratu and carted away some items before he was apprehended by the police.
He said that the items stolen included dry fish, semovita and one carton of milk.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 411(1)(2) and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The convict pleaded guilty to the four-count charge against him.
His counsel, Mrs Abosede Adeyinka, had prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in the delivery of its judgment.
