Jigawa State ex-Governor, Sule Lamido was yesterday granted bail on self-recognition by a Magistrate’s Court in Dutse.
The bail came after he had spent four days in detention, following his alleged criminal offence bordering on inciting and inflammatory remarks against the state government.
The former governor had earlier on Tuesday rejected his bail condition. At the resumption of hearing yesterday, Chief Magistrate Usman Mohammed Lamin, said the bail granted to the former governor was to enable the police to conclude their Investigation.
He appealed to Lamido’s counsel Felix Jones Osimerah to caution his supporters to be law-abiding. Moments after Lamido was granted bail, a black Mercedes Benz conveyed him in a convoy of not less than 100 vehicles to his hometown, Bamaina.
Addressing a crowd of supporters at his country home, Lamido thanked them for their unrelenting supports during his tribulations. Meanwhile, the trial has been adjourned to July 5, 2017 for resumed hearing.
