Thunder struck twice at the AstroTurf2000 where defending champions, Falana & Falana again defeated archrivals, Olisa Agbakoba Legal, to retain the BOA Lawyers League title. The same teams fought in the final of the competition last year with Falana & Falana running away with the title.
This year, Olisa Agbakoba was determined to wrest the crown from the grips of the champions, but Falana & Falana will have none of that, albeit they were pushed to the limits before they won through a penalty shoot out.
The two finalists alongside Pinheiro and Templars were the outstanding sides in the competition, which featured 16 law firms from the preliminaries.
The regulation time and added time of the final game could not separate the sides, but Falana & Falana won the ensuing penalty kicks 2-1 to hold on to their crown.
Earlier in the third place match, two goals from the boots of Oghale Enuke had given Pinheiro LP the bronze medal at the expense of Templars. To get to the final, Falana & Falana defeated Templars by a lone goal, while Olisa Agbakoba Legal beat OPinheiro LP 5-0 in the second semifinal.
The BOA Lawyers League is held annually in memory of the late notable lawyer, Mr. Bankole Olumide Aluko, a founding partner in the law firm of Aluko & Oyebode, who passed on 15 years ago.
