Elizade University tasks pioneer graduates on excellence

Elizade University founder, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo state, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo has urged the 35 pioneer graduates of the institution to distinguish themselves in the labour market even as he pledged his support as they set out for the outside world.

Ade-Ojo while addressing the graduating students at the maiden convocation ceremony of the university said they have been equipped in learning and character to make a difference in the world.

He said, “it is true you have finished your course here but let me quickly remind you that you are also starting another-the school of experience, from which nobody ever graduates, but which however breeds successes and failures alike.”

Ade-Ojo who christened the convocation “The harvesting of our first fruits,” also urged them to uphold the four tenets of the institution which are discipline, determination, dedication and diligence in every of their endeavour.

“Do not waste time, start doing something immediately. Do not stay at home, go out and find something to do. If you can fly, fly; if you cannot fly, run; and if you cannot run, walk; and if you cannot walk, crawl; but don’t stay at a point.

“Learn to make opportunities out of difficulties, not difficulties out of opportunities. That is, to be optimists not pessimists. Create, make, innovate as CNN enjoins. I will encourage anyone of you that wants to fly to do so,” he added.

The acting vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Theophilus Fadayomi said the institution has equipped the graduating students with relevant knowledge and skills and should be prepared to launch into the outside world.

He however reminded that learning is a continuous process and they must be ready to embrace emerging technology.

“Therefore, you cannot rest on your parents, but must be prepared to solve existing problems and meet new challenges that may overwhelm your new credentials. Those of us who fail to make the necessary adjustment will become extinct like the dinosaurs who failed to adapt to their changing environment,” Prof. Fadahunsi said.
