NPA restates commitment to CSR, donates to IDPs

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has stated its firm resolves at sustaining the commitment it had established concerning her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) across the country.

The NPA’s Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman, made this commitment while handing over some relief materials procured for the internally displaced persons (IDPS) in Maiduguri, Borno State to Governor Kashim Shettima.

Bala Usman, who stated that the NPA had made similar gestures to the IDPS in Adamawa and Yobe states added that it was desirous of prioritising and sustaining its CSR efforts.


She said: “The NPA believes that there is need to strengthen our CSR to include addressing the needs of host communities to enlist their support and synergy towards a harmonious mutual dividend. Also, there is the need to partner government in the quest to provide for the IDPS and others that are in need.”

She stressed: “This continued support is expected of us as a responsible corporate entity and agencies of the Federal Government,” calling on similar corporate entities to join hands in “this very important journey.”

The NPA boss commended Shettima for his commitment and courage in bringing the dividends of good governance in a holistic manner to the people even under very difficult situations, stressing that the developmental projects running through the state speak volume in this regard.

The materials donated range from 107,450 pieces of mats, to 2,540 bags of 50kg rice, 2,100 bags of beans, 600 bags of corn, 1,400 bags of semovita and1, 660 kegs of palm oil.

Others are 830 pieces of mattress, 2,100 pieces of mosquito nets, 4,620 pieces of wrappers and 1,950 pieces of rechargeable and solar lanterns.

Shettima appreciated the kind gestures from the NPA boss and promised that the relief items would be judiciously utilised across board in the affected areas, He later enlisted support from stakeholders in the maritime sector and beyond to enable her succeed in her set agenda of making the NPA a model agency and hub in sub Saharan Africa.
