Isoko chieftain accuses DESOPADEC of neglect

DESOPADEC Corporate Headquarters, Warri.

A leader of the Isoko nation, Godwin Ogorugba, yesterday urged the management of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission (DESOPADEC) to provide basic amenities for the people.

Ogorugba told journalists in Ozoro that the location of projects in Isokoland was not a fair representation of the ethnic communities in the oil-producing area.

According to him, most of the completed and ongoing projects in Isoko were facilitated through the lawmaker representing them at the House of Representatives, Mr. Leo Ogor.

He said only one major project could be said to have been done by the commission in the area. But a DESOPADEC official, who did not want to be named, said the Isoko communities had been well favoured in projects’ location. He dismissed the allegation of neglect as untrue.
