Osinbajo’s Visit Is Affirmation Of Reasoning Over Military Might
As Nigerians continue to commend the Federal Government over current efforts at finding lasting solution to the Niger Delta impasse, an activist, Comrade Richard Akinaka, has said the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo’s recent peace tour was an affirmation that proper reasoning is better than ‘Military might.’
Akinaka, who presented youths’ position during the Acting President’s visit to the state in a chat with newsmen in Yenagoa, said it was a significant step towards peaceful resolution of the impasse.
He, however, warned that the visit must be holistic enough to address the fundamental issues of the region and not be geared towards satisfying the yearnings of a few individuals in the region.
“The Acting president’s visit is a signpost to peace in the region, but times have come, when we should go beyond meetings and discussion. Government must also set its priorities right and do the right thing to ensure that peace and equity prevail, as well as ensuring that the region that lays the golden egg and sustains this nation is given the preference it deserves. Then, I tell you, there will be peace,” he said.
In the same vein, some stakeholders have requested that the presidency gives a definite time frame compelling International Oil Companies (IOCs) to relocate their administrative and operational headquarters to the Niger Delta.
