Four Dutch coaches have confirmed their participation in the 2017 Greensprings Kanu Football Camp, which will hold from April 3 to 7 at the school’s Lekki, Lagos campus.

According to a statement by the organisers, the Dutch coaches, who are expected to join forces with their Nigerian counterparts at the season six of the one-week exercise are Nigeria-born Sylvester Okonkwo, Rob Ernst, Tom Assel and Jerino Lekatompessij.

Speaking on the programme, the Director, Greensprings School, Mrs. Lai Koiki, said the camp is part of the school’s corporate social responsibilities (CSR), adding, “Many more students that will otherwise not have participated actively, especially at the competitive level have been doing that, which is good.

“The camp has helped us to groom our students to be able to beat the likes of St. Gregory’s College and we are supposed to be the ‘ajebutters’ (weaker school), but then we did it. It is part of the training and continuous training.”

Koiki added: “The social impact that it has had is that as an off-shoot of this, we have been able to do some corporate social responsibilities. We now have five football scholars and some of these football scholars have also gone ahead to represent Nigeria on an international level.

“On the academic side and the social side, we have given them a new ease of life. I am sure the sky is probably their stepping stone for them, as to where they can get.
