EFCC

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), at the weekend invaded Ogbia town, where they ransacked the palatial mansion of Mr. George Turnah.

Turnah was a Special Adviser to immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who also hails from the same town.

The operatives were said to have stormed the multi-million naira Kolo Creek Villa, located in Kolo town, Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State at around 5pm on Saturday, with over 30 armed mobile policemen and soldiers in tow.

The Guardian gathered that the armed mobile policeman and soldiers surrounded the house, while the men of EFCC broke into the compound in search of the former coordinator of the Jonathan/Sambo Youth Vanguard.

Sources disclosed that the visit was futile, as the man they came for had strolled out of the compound barely five minutes before their arrival.

When The Guardian visited the Kolo creek villa, the house had lost the usual boisterous outlook; just as attempt to gain access to the building was prevented by the police security mounted at the gate.

The policeman, who confirmed the invasion, disclosed that the operatives came around 5pm and laid siege to the house till around 10 pm, adding that they arrived few minutes after the owner left.

Sources added that the operatives ransacked the offices, bedrooms and sitting rooms, just as they broke into some of the rooms where they could not find the keys and went away with some sensitive documents, including chequebooks belonging to the young businessman.
